Intro
DFW IT Partner is an Odoo implementation and development partner based in Irving, Texas, helping businesses run their operations on Odoo ERP.
Many growing businesses rely on scattered spreadsheets and disconnected tools for sales, inventory, accounting, and HR. That leads to duplicated work, data errors, and little visibility into the business.
At DFW IT Partner, I build and customize Odoo apps that bring these processes into one system, tailored to each client’s workflow instead of forcing them into a one-size-fits-all setup.
🛠 Tech Stack
- Backend: Python, Odoo ORM, custom Odoo modules
- Frontend: OWL (Odoo Web Library), JavaScript, QWeb / XML views
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Integrations: REST APIs, XML-RPC / JSON-RPC
- Deployment: Docker, Odoo.sh / Linux servers
- Version Control: Git
⚙️ How It Works
Requirement & Business Analysis
- Understanding the Workflow: Work with clients to map their existing processes (sales, inventory, purchasing, accounting) and identify gaps that standard Odoo doesn’t cover.
- Solution Design: Decide what can be configured out of the box and what needs a custom module.
Backend Development
- Custom Modules: Build new Odoo modules and extend existing ones by inheriting models, adding fields, and overriding business logic.
- Automation: Implement scheduled actions, computed fields, and server actions to cut down manual work.
- Access Control: Set up security groups, access rights, and record rules so each user only sees what they need.
Frontend Development
- Custom Views: Design form, list, kanban, and search views using XML.
- OWL Components: Build interactive UI components and widgets with OWL and JavaScript for a smoother user experience.
- Reports: Create custom PDF reports (invoices, quotations, delivery slips) using QWeb templates.
Integrations & Deployment
- Third-Party Integrations: Connect Odoo with external systems through REST APIs and Odoo’s RPC interface.
- Data Migration: Import and clean legacy data into Odoo during onboarding.
- Deployment & Support: Deploy modules to staging and production, then maintain and upgrade them as client needs grow.

It taught me how to turn real business problems into clean, maintainable ERP solutions, and how much good software can simplify the way a company operates.
